Teacher Process

The WebQuest should take about a week and a half to complete based on six- seven 1 hour periods to start and finish. However, depending on the schedule of classes or how much depth you would like to go into , the time could be easily modified.

The first day should be spent introducing the WebQuest. Here students will be placed into groups. They will chose the author they would like to represent, this could be done on a first come, first serve basis, or they could draw numbers for an order to chose their author/poet. They will also chose and become familiar with what investigator role they would like to take on.

The second and third day should be utilized for student research on their author. This should ideally be done within the school's computer lab or library.

The fourth day is when the students should have their research complete and come together to discuss their findings. It is here that they should collaboratively discuss what information is relevant and draw connections and conclusions based on their individual findings.

The fifth day is when students put together their ideas for their oral presentation and begin their billboard advertisement for their author. They may finish this in one day or an additional day may be needed. It would be preferable to give the students a chance to work from a computer in order to get images they may need for their billboard advertisements.

The next two days are when the oral presentations are given to the class. A hard copy of the notes and ideas that they presented is to be given to the teacher with all three group members names on it and the billboard is turned in as well.
