Day 2 - Learn about the history of voting in our country.  Use the information in this site to learn about the qualifications for voting then decide Who Can Participate?

Day 3 - Watch this movie then complete the activity.

Group C - you may choose which three of these worksheets you want to complete.

Day 4 - Look at the examples of political cartoons at the end of the powerpoint then draw your own.  Note: You do not have to complete the essay at the end of the powerpoint.


Day 5 - Another movie for your learning enjoyment.  After you finish watching the movie, write a journal entry telling me five new things that you learned from it.

 

 

Week 2: Why and how do we vote?

Watch this movie for an overview.

Day 1

Click here to watch a powerpoint about citizenship.  Answer the questions at the end of the powerpoint and submit them for a grade.  Then you can play the game.

Day 2

You are a citizen of America.  Watch the powerpoint and choose two pictures that you think best show what it means to be an American citizen.  Write descriptions (clues) about each picture on this sheet.  Make sure your clues are specific enough that I can understand what pictures you chose.

Day 3

Now you know what citizensip is and what it means to be an American citizen.  Adults are acting as responsible citizens when they vote in elections.  But can just one vote really make a difference?  Read this article to find out.  Complete the activity to show what you have learned.

Day 4 - Review movie - watch it and complete the quiz.  Send a completed copy of your quiz for a grade.

Day 5 - You are ready to vote.  Cast your ballot and send a copy to me.  We will discuss the results in eluminate

Week #3

Days 1-2

Who are the candidates for the 2008 election?  Use these websites to gather the information and complete your evaluation forms.  This will take a while, so I'm going to give you two days to complete it.  Be thinking about which candidate you think will be the best for the job and why. 

Group A - you only need one copy.  But you will still choose two different candidates from two different parties to compare and contrast.  Write atleast three things about each candidate and atleast three things that they have in common. 

Group B - you will use a tree organizer to research three candidates from three  separate parties.  Put the title Elections 08 in the top box, then a candidates name in each of the next three - then information about each candidate on the bottom row.

Group C - you need two copies.  You need to choose at least two candidates from two separate parties to research.
