The students will be learning about geometric shapes, along with symmetry and other patterns. They will be applying their newly gained understanding of geometry and how this type of mathematics plays a key role in real life and art by critiquing the provided for art within the virtual art gallery in the webquest. Once the students have done this, they will create their own art work or structure that reflects their comprehension of the geometry and art in real life learned. The students will be applying their own interpretations of the artwork's purpose into their geometric creations.
Introduction
Geometry...math or art?
What is geometry? Where is it? What can we create with it? Is geometry important to art?
Welcome to the virtual art gallery! You will be exploring several art works and designs. It will be here that you will gain a whole new view of the world of math and art.
In order to understand the art in the gallery, first you are going to become a geometry expert (one with a special skill), next you are going to tour the gallery, and then you are going to make your own creation!
