Teacher Process
Incorporating acquired knowledge from Nutrition discussions and activities, student should be able to analyze their current eating habits as well as create a personal dietary plan that reflects the current USDA Dietary Guidelines and the Food Pyramid. All students must record all food and drinks, including snack items for three consecutive days. After the analysis and instruction of the USDA Dietary Guidelines and Food Pyramid, students should analyis their current eating habits. In the analysis, students should record their excesses and deficiences in relation to the Food Guide and Pyramid. After the analysis, students should use the following websites and information from the text and class activities to plan their breakfast, lunch, dinner, and any snacks for three days. Planning should be based on the USDA Dietary Guidelines and the Food Pyramid. Reflection questions should be answered after the activity is completed. All grades for this assignment will be based on the rubric developed for this activity. Students will turn in analysis of their diet, personal three day diet plan, and the reflection questions.
Analysis of Diet-this element of the rubric specifically addresses the analysis of your current eating habits. You were required to record all food, drink, and snack items that you consumed for 3 consecutive days. Correct analysis will include your deficiencies and excesses in relation to the USDA Dietary Guidelines and the Food Pyramid. Total mastery will include all of the deficiencies and excesses with a lower score assigned when less analysis is done.
Planning Meals-this element of the rubric represents meal planning that incorporates all 6 food groups. The sixth group, which is fats, oils, and sweets, is important to include as most of you get too much of this group. All meals should follow all USDA Dietary guidelines and should reflect the proper amount of servings in each group. In order to show total mastery, you must include all groups with the proper servings. Correct planning on some of the meals and not on others will reflect less mastery which will result in a lower score for that element to the rubric.
Reflection/write up-In this element you will be required to respond to each of the reflection questions. Addressing all the questions with a level of sophistication that represents comprehension of the assignment will receive total mastery. Vague or incomplete responses to the questions will result in a lower score for that element of the assignment. Reflection questions would also indicate whether the assignment and all of its components were followed appropriately.
Conventions- This element of the rubric is alwasys part of any assignment that involves writing. You should always be expected to express your ideas, analysis, research, and reflections free from grammatical errors. You will be given a “grace” of 4 or less errors to demonstrate total mastery. That being said, no grammatical errors should be present if you are allowed the opportunity for resubmission of the assignment.
Organization and Format- This is one element of any assignment that I think is very important to include in the grading. I believe that any report or analysis that you may be confronted with in later coursework or in a job situation will require a certain level of organization and format. Excellent organization and format would receive a total mastery delineation. Excellent organization would encompass all information presented in a way that each step of the assignment is followed and presented as required by the webquest. Lack of organization or information presented out of order or context will receive a lower score. REFLECTION QUESTIONS
