Introduction

Have you ever wanted to take control  of your parents' grocery list and buy what YOU wanted at the grocery store? Or if you have ever gone with your parents to the grocery store, did you ever want to take the cart by yourself and go through the checkout by yourself?

During this lesson, you will have the opportunity to do just that!  You and your partner will be in charge of creating a shopping list, mapping out your route around the store, going through the checkout, and paying by yourselves at Shop Rite!  There is a catch though...

This WebQuest will give you all the information you need to prepare yourself for the big day!  You will explore sites to learn about nutritional value labels, prices of foods, quantity of food, and quality of food as well. You will have to use your problem solving skills, math skills, and your background knowledge of heathy foods to be successful!

At the end of this lesson, you should be able to buy four meals for a family of four for four days. The food that is bought should be healthy and from the food pyramid.  After all, your family can't live on junk food alone!  You will have a $100 limit.  Your total needs to be as close to $100 as possible without going over.  Just like in real life, if you don't have enough money when you're at the register, you won't be allowed to just walk off with all that food!

Have fun exploring and good luck!  See you at Shop Rite!
