Students will research the historical periods of jazz and produce an "All-Star" concert from one period.

Introduction

April is Jazz Appreciation Month, and what better way to celebrate America's Jazz Heritage than to go back in time and learn about the jazz musicians and the music they created?

Jazz is considered to be the first (and for some, the only) American form of music to have an impact on the rest of the world.  Growing out of the "melting pot" of New Orleans around the turn of the 20th century, Jazz has experienced many different styles and forms in just over 100 years.

This WebQuest is designed to introduce students to the many different eras of Jazz and help convey a sense of the contribution jazz musicians and jazz music has made to our country and the world.  You are invited to learn "All that Jazz!"
