Students will research the historical periods of jazz and produce an "All-Star" concert from one period.

Teacher Introduction

This webqest was designed for an Instructional Technology Class at the University of Georgia.  While searching for a topic, I was asked to teach an 8th Grade Jazz Class at my Middle School, and only given about a weeks notice before the first class! 

I decided to design a Webquest that would allow the students to research the various time periods in jazz history so that they could get an introduction to the rich history of this American art form.  My hope is that this Webquest will get the students interested in learning about many of the styles in jazz, and be able to approach their music within a historical context. 

Objective: At the end of this WebQuest, students will be able to identify major time periods and styles in jazz history, and name several musicians and musical works from one time period.
