In this webquest students will learn about the author Tomie dePaola. The children will first pretend that they are reporters and will learn about Tomie. They will then write a paragraph about where Tomie got his ideas to write one of his books. Next, students will be authors themselves and like Tomie write about an event that has happened in their lives that they would like to share with their friends.
Introduction
Are you beginning an author study examining books written by Tomie dePaola or has your class just finished reading some of Tomie's children's books? If so, this webquest is a perfect extension to connect reading, writing, and technology together to enhance the learning experience for your students. Children will have the opportunity to learn about Tomie as an author and then model his technique in a cumulating project where they will develop their own stories.
