Task
Think about the fable, "The Dog and the Bone," retold by Laura Black that was read in class. In this fable, Dog happily trots along, carrying a large bone in his mouth. As he crosses a bridge, he sees his reflection in the river. He thinks that he is seeing another dog with another bone. He wants that bone too! To scare the other dog so that he will drop the bone, Dog decides to bark. When he opens his mouth, his bone falls into the river and is lost. Moral: Be happy with what you have.
You will be creating your very own fable, just like the "The Dog and the Bone." You must choose one or two animals as characters before you begin to write your fable.
