Conclusion

We are at the end of our unit and I hope you've learned a lot more about the state you live in. By now you should see how hard life could be back at that time and some of the hardships that people had to face on a daily basis. You have learned how weather could affect any part of life from travel to farming conditions to railroad laying. You've learned about different jobs and the requirements and hardships that came with each job. You've also seen how discrimination played a role in who got what job no matter how qualified he or she may have been. This is all of the time that we have for our California Here We Come unit but there are many different places you can go on the internet or in the library if you wish to find out more.

Other additional projects that you can do would be to make a map of your journey to California. Add as much detail as you can including any bumps along your route that may have caused you to slow on your journey.

Another project would be to find and research a real person that is from the same group as you were assigned. It would be best if you could find somebody who had the same job as you but if you find someone even more interesting go for it.

Create an art portoflio with different styles of art (paintings, sketches, poetry, short stories, etc) from your group. You can include famous paintings but you have to have atleast 5 pieces your own creations.
