Students will choose a mathematician to honor as the TIME Magazine's Person of the Year. Students will conduct research and write an article about the important achievements of the mathematician. Students will also design a cover for the magazine issue to present to the class.

Introduction

You are a journalist for the prestigious TIME magazine.  Every year, TIME magazine selects a Person of the Year, who has been the most influential person for better or for worse in that year.  The TIME Person of the Year is given the honor of being featured on the cover of TIME magazine and having an article about their accomplishments as the main feature of the issue.
The head editor of TIME magazine wants to do something unique this year for the Person of the Year and has asked for your input.  Since you have been learning about famous mathematicians in your Algebra class, you thought it would be a great idea to pick a mathematician as TIME magazine’s Person of the Year.  The mathematician chosen would be featured in the TIME magazine for the given year in which he or she published his or her mathematical discovery.
