This WebQuest is designed to give an insight into Australian uniqueness. Australia's geographical position, its climate and wildlife make this country very special.

Introduction

Australia is the only nation to occupy an entire continent. It is a country of extremes with one of the largest land areas yet one of the lowest population densities. It is a land of contrasts stretching from tropical reefs in the north to alpine wilderness in the south. Australia is the sixth largest country in the world and contains mountains, rainforests, deserts, and abundance of exotic flora and fauna found nowhere else in the world. People living there also make it unique. Over 90 per cent of its people live in coastal urban areas. It is a continent that has been inhabited for over 50 000 years yet it is still a young country.
