Process

Obesity means having too much body fat.  Obesity among children in America is quickly becoming an epidemic that needs our attention.

Step One

You will be assigned into research groups consisting of three classmates.  In these groups, you will all need to decide who is going to be an expert and research in one the following areas; causes, preventions, and healthy eating, there needs to be one expert researcher for each area.  Once you've decided who will be tackiling which area, you should brainstorm ideas that cover the area you are researching, then research using the below web links, and don't forget to take notes on your finding since you will be reporting back to your group.

Step Two

Once you have researched your area of expertise and shared it with your group, your group needs to design and create a healthy one-week menu for the school's cafeteria, making sure to include all parts of the FDA's Food Pyramid.

Step Three

Next, you will each write a letter to your parents discussing the schools revamp of the cafeteria menu.  Your letter should include:

• Your concern of the rising rate of obesity in the United States
• The causes that you and your team have identified
• Preventions you and your team have identified
