This WebQuest is designed to explore the current trend of obesity amongst children in America. Students will be researchers working for the school's cafeteria to promote healthy living, educating the community about obesity, and developing a healthy school menu. We will review multiple points of view in order make recommendations for solutions to this problem.

Teacher Introduction

In this WebQuest, students will be researchers working for the school to develop a new, healthy cafeteria menu, while also educating themselves and their community about obesity. This webquest is designed so children are able to work in collaboration with each other.  The teacher is there to assist only, in the students learning.  The unit is designed to encourage students to think about their choices when it comes to food and to then be able to make informed decisions towards the issue of obesity.  The students are learning together, through brainstorming, researching, planning and creating.  It is meant to be an enjoyable activity that is linked to Health and Physical Education, but also includes skills from English, Design and Technology.
