Students are guided through steps to help them research a business idea, identify resources to start their business, and create a "Business Idea" brochure using Microsoft Publisher that presents the information they have gathered.

Teacher Introduction

 I created this project to introduce to students the idea of becoming a business owner. Often, we ask students "what they want to be when they grow up" and rarely do we get an answer like "business owner". Becoming an entrepreneur is an option that students should consider because they posess already or have the potential of obtaining talents and skills that they may be able to market and sell. I hoped to peak their interest in business ownership while at the same time reflecting on who they are and how they could make a contribution to society. The requirement for them to put the information in a brochure format is in alignment with my computer applications course and most students love the features and flexibility of desktop publishing so the brochure was not a hard sell.
