Teacher Process
This project is designed to take place over four class periods with students working in groups of two or three. In a larger class, students might work in larger groups and might be able to work through the material more quickly. Over the first two days, students should work through the Process page to investigate the roles of women in the global economy and explore possibile ways to work toward gender equity and long term economic growth. On the third day, students should be directed to work on the Conclusion - hammering out their ranked list of three steps to take to work toward gender equity and long term economic growth. The final day is a full class discussion; each group should present and defend its list. Hopefully a larger discussion will naturally follow these presentations, but here are some questions to guide discussion if the class needs to be brought back to task:
- Now that you have heard your classmates' thoughts, would you change your lists at all?
- Were there any suggested steps that you think might be counterproductive?
- After listening to everyone's ideas, what three steps would we, as a class, put forth?
- What do you think the major obstacles to gender equity and long term economic growth might be?
