Introduction

"The first step in liquidating a people is to erase its memory. Destroy its books, its culture, its history, Then have somebody write new books, manufacture a new culture, invent a new history. Before long the nation will begin to forget what it is and what it was. The world around it will forget even faster."

  Introduction

We have been reading The Diary of Ann Frank, the story of a 13-year-old Jewish girl and her family who are forced into hiding by the Nazis during World War II.  You will read another book about young people also set during World War II but in a different part of the world. Through the book you read, and your web research, you will delve more deeply into World War II, reading about its impact then and today on the lives of people around the globe.
