Design and build a three-story "earthquake-resistant" structure

Introduction

Earthquakes damage many man-made structures.  Many cities in earthquake-prone areas have now developed building codes in order to reduce damage caused by earthquakes.

In the following lab you will be issued a challenge: design and build a three-story earthquake-resistant structure using only a set amount of glue, toothpicks, craft sticks, wooden splints, and your own ingenuity.  Once you have built your structure, you will actually test its earthquake resistance by placing it on a specially designed earthquake board.
