Process

  1. Get your country approved by Mr. Otting.
  2. Begin researching your country.
  3. Begin planning your trip. You are not limited by a set amount of money. You can spend as much or as little as you like.
  4. Create an itinerary using Microsoft Word. You must plan out each day of your trip in detail. Make your itinerary professional looking.
  5. Create a flyer using Microsoft Word briefly describing your trip. Include some photos.
  6. Create an Access Database of at least 10 family/friends whom you will be sending postcards to during your trip. Include the names and addresses of these family/friends.
  7. You must research not only information about the country itself but also the cost of your trip. A good place to start would be with a round trip ticket from the Chattanooga airport to you country. You will create a detailed Excel spreadsheet (complete with the necessary formulas) including such items as airfare, hotel cost, food cost, transportation costs, food expenses, admission prices to museums/attractions, etc. You must have a total cost for the final slide of your presentation.
  8. Finally, you will put together your PowerPoint. This will be a minimum of 15 slides. Remember you will be presenting this to the class. Keep the slides interesting and no plagiarizing websites. The slides should be interesting and professional.
  9. When you have completed your project you are required to print the following items: Itinerary (in color), Flyer (in color), Access Database (in B&W), Excel Spreadsheet (in B&W), Excel Spreadsheet with formulas (in B&W), and your PowerPoint Presentation (9 slides per page in color).
  10. Finally, you will present your project to the class.

The PowerPoint presentation will be graded not only on the content (information), but also on how well it is put together, choice of illustrations and images, organization of the information, the way it is presented to the class, and overall impression on the class. One of your goals is to make the students want to travel to this country.
