Task
This assignment comes with Four tasks. From the results of these tasks you will produce an A3 poster to put on the wall. After consultation with the group members and once all the tasks have been received one person should be in charge of the final production

- Task One Find out where certain places in Paris are and plot them on a map - see worksheet Year 10 Paris Webquest map.doc
- Task Two: Scavenge through the websites to find the answers to a series of questions - see worksheet Year 10 Paris Webquest fact finder.doc
- Task Three : Plan a stay of 4 complete days and nights in Paris for a family of 4 in April : Maman, Papa and 2 adolescents.
You will have to think of activities suitable for all members of the family: (culture, shopping, maybe even a sporting or musical event); where you are going to stay; and how you are going to get around. You have a budget of about 300 Euros per day
Use the information found by the group members doing the other tasks to help you. Consult with them when you have suggestions for the itinerary and make a final decision. ( You will have some time for this in class)
A. Decide which 4 days you are planning to stay ( remember July and August are the most popular months and Paris is crowded
B. Research and decide how you will get around - a Paris Visite card for everyone or just carnets of metro tickets? Why did you make this choice? How much did this cost
C, Choose a hotel to stay in and the sorts of rooms you plan to book. 1) List three options and choose one after discussing it with your group members. 2) Justify the final choice comparing it to the others (price, type of rooms, location, amenities, suitability for a family etc.). 3) Say where the hotel is, what sort of rooms you have 'booked', the cost and what the nearest metro stop is. 4) Make sure the rooms are available for the dates you want. 5) Download a picture/pictures if possible.
D. Decide on an itinerary of activities for the 4 days and provide the approximate costings. Morning/ afternoon/ evening. What are you going to do and see. You may include museums, sporting events, theatre, excursions out of Paris, shopping - what ever you think suitable. But you must include one or more comments saying why you chose these places/activities (e.g.What you would see/do there, why it is important or famous), what each one cost and what the closest metro stop is. Add any relevant pictures
- Task Four: Self evaluation.
Write a small summary ( no more than 150-200 words) of who did what? Did you learn anything about doing research like this? What did you find difficult? What could you have done better? What are you proud of ? What could I have done better in setting up the activity? Is there anyone in the group that did not contribute? Did others in the group have to make up for the lack of effort by one or more members? How should the marks be divided up for my records? This does not need to go on the front of the presentation. Stick this to the back of the poster.
