In this WebQuest, students are asked to read the novel "To Kill a Mockingbird," and create an alternate ending for the story. They are also asked to write and perform a play depicting their alternate ending.
Introduction
To Kill a Mockingbird
"To Kill a Mockingbird," by Harper Lee, was published in 1960. It tells a story of a five year old girl named "Scout," her brother "Jem," and their friend "Dill," who live in a racist white community. After "Scout" and "Jem's" father agrees to represent a young black male who was accused of raping a white woman, "Scout" and "Jem's" lives become very hectic.
Through this WebQuest, you will expand the issues that these children are facing. You will learn how to explicate the novel and relate the concepts to your own life.
At the completion of your project, you and your group will have written an alternate ending to the novel, and will have choreographed your own play of your ending to present in front of the class.
