This is a conservation of energy WebQuest that will help students create a checklist that all students can use at their homes to find out if they are doing their part to be green.

Introduction

All of those blue trash cans, green trash cans, black trash cans. One for grass, one for bottles, one for trash, one for what? Why in the world have we come up with so many different trash cans? Does it really matter?

Do the light bulbs really matter? This curly little pig tail really saves money. If you put one of those in each of your light fixtures not only would you save the environment, but you would save MONEY.

Did you know:

-          It takes 16 times more energy to make a new aluminum can than it does to recycle one.

-          Your TV is using electricity even if it is turned off!

-          The typical Americans throw away 60 pounds of plastic packing each year.

-          Lights consume about 20% of all the energy used in the United States.

-          If we all recycled all our Sunday papers, 500,000 trees could be saved each week.

-          2 gallons of tap water is needed to make 1 gallon of bottled water.
