An exploratory adventure, based on the book "The Sign of the Beaver", written by Elizabeth George Speare.
This unit is intended to incorporate learning about American colonization, and Native American life, while students read the coming-of-age story The Sign of the Beaver, by Elizabeth George Speare. Not only will the students learn about 18th century life from two different perspectives, they will actually put themselves in the shoes of the main character and write several personal accounts of what it is like to experience when two cultures collide.
