Students will become individuals involved in the Underground Railroad (slaves, slave owners, conductors, Northerners) and will come together and discuss this important historical event.

Introduction

The Underground Railroad was a secret route that helped slaves in the United States escape to the North and to Canada.

The year is now 1840.  Slavery is a problem in the South. Some support it, some reject it.  How do you feel?  What will you do?  You will soon find out by becoming a character in the Underground Railroad.
