Introduction
In today's entertainment-frenzied society, professional sporting events are major crowd-drawers and moneymakers. While choosing the best athletes and having a winning strategy is are both important to the success of a team, selling tickets to the games is paramount to ensuring the business side of the organization is healthy!
The marketing mix framework was particularly useful in the early days of the concept of marketing when physical products represented a larger portion of the economy. Today, with marketing more integrated into organizations and with a wider variety of products and markets, some authors have attempted to extend its usefulness by proposing a fifth P, such as packaging, people, process, etc
In this Webquest, you get to spend some time researching the Marketing Mix used by one of your favorite pro sports teams and then analyze their strategy. Have fun with this! You have the opportunity to be a consumer and marketing analyst at the same time! Who knows, maybe you can determine a better way for your favorite team to market tickets to their games!
