This WebQuest is designed to engage students in acknowledging the importance of the language they use everyday by enlightening them with different types of slang and the origin of that slang.

Welcome High School Students!
Today, we will cover an interesting aspect of spoken and sometimes written slang that has been used in the prison system for many years. Prisons have a distinct slang that can be somewhat confusing and misleading to someone that is unfamiliar with it. Today, we will cover a few different words & phrases, as well as the meaning behind each. Not only will this topic make you more aware of some prison slang, but it will also help in preparing you for possible future jobs, such as a field in a corrections, criminal justice system or forensic psychology.
Prison slang is necessary for survival. It is your responsibility to survive the system (this assignment).
