This webquest has students study the language of Shakespeare, rewrite a monologue in contemporary language, and perform their piece for the class.


One of the most important tools for a young actor is a strong monologue.  The multitude of powerful monologues in the collective works of Shakespeare makes him a natural source for many students, but many struggle with the language.  This web quest is designed to help students make sense of Shakespeare's work, and rewrite it into contemporary English while keeping the original intent.
